On April 20, 2016 a jewelry store in Frankfort, IL was the victim of a diamond switch with a CZ. The subject had previously been in the store under the guise that he was looking for an engagement ring. At that time he was shown some loose diamonds.
He then returned to the store on the date mentioned above and asked to see the same diamond again. While the sales associate was showing him the diamond he asked to see a mount in the case.
When the associate turned to take out the mount. The suspect “palmed” the diamond and replaced it with a CZ.
