On 9/1/20, at approximately 6:35 p.m., a male subject entered a jewelry store and attempted to purchase a men’s gold bracelet valued at $7,000 on a store branded credit card. The subject had some of the information for his account, but he was unable to recall the zip code, which raised a red flag for the team member. The team member contacted the credit card company and informed them they were suspicious of the sale. The credit card company representative advised the team member to inform the subject additional information was required and he needed to contact them.

The subject grabbed his I.D. and left the store. The team member called the customer to verify the information. When she made contact with the customer, he had no idea what she was referencing and advised her he has never been to California and that he resides in Texas. The team members instinct averted a loss. The subject was described as a 5’9” Black male with a big build. He is light skinned, has a mustache and short hair. If you have any information regarding this subject, please email the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at jsa2@jewelerssecurity.org
