On 3/10/21, at approximately 11:45 a.m., a male subject entered a jewelry store and said he was shopping for his daughter’s birthday gift. The male subject then selected a diamond ring, and a lab created diamond. The subject then presented a credit card that matched the driver’s license that was presented for the sale. When the card did not go through, the male subject left the store and walked to a white Jeep in the parking lot. A few minutes later, the male subject came back into the store stating that he spoke with his bank and that he had the funds available. The credit card was manually entered at the subject’s request and the transaction was made. The subject then left the location with the solitaire ring and the lab created diamond. Shortly after that incident, the store received a call from a customer inquiring about the charge on their account. The employees in the store contacted police. The subject was described as an older 5’8” Black male. He weighs approximately 190 lbs. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, a green plaid polo shirt, and jeans. If you have any information regarding this subject, please email the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at jsa2@jewelerssecurity.org.
