On 12/18/19, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a male subject entered a jewelry store and stated he was interested in seeing a pair of 3 ct. solitaire diamond earrings. He wanted to purchase the items for himself. The sales associate removed the earrings from the case and allowed the subject to try them on. After the subject was done trying them on, he removed them from his ears and placed them on the presentation pad. The subject used his cell phone to take a picture of the earrings. He then walked away and said he had to talk to his boyfriend about them.

On the next day, the store’s manager was putting out merchandise and she noticed that the backings of the earrings did not fit. After diamond testing the earrings, it was determined that they were CZ’s. A review of surveillance footage showed the subject likely performed the switch after he removed the cell phone from his pocket. The subject was described as a White male in his late 20’s to early 30’s. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap and a polo long-sleeve button-down shirt. He is 5’6″ and weighs 200lbs. If you have any information regarding this subject, please call the Jewelers Security Alliance at 212-687-0328.
