On 4/8/2023, at approximately 2:44 p.m., a distraction theft occurred at a jewelry store in Hoover, AL. A male and female couple were shopping for a gold chain and pendant. The couple claimed to have a budget of around $1,700 to spend. The male subject was insistent on purchasing a gold chain, pendant, and diamond ring for this price. Team members assisted the couple with multiple options available within their budget. The couple settled on a clearance gold rope chain and cross pendant. During the interaction, one of the subjects wanted to view the diamond ring again. When presented with the ring, the subject placed the ring on his right pinky finger and wore it in the store while engaging with team members. During the sale transaction of the chain and pendant, the subject removed the ring from his finger and concealed it in his pocket. He left the store without payment while his girlfriend paid for the other merchandise. Female, black, dark complexion, thin, petite build, 25 years old. She was last seen wearing a black long sleeve hooded jacket, light colored pants, and carrying a small black purse.
