On 8/26/20, at approximately 6:30 p.m., as merchandise in the store was being put into bins, a subject came to the gate. The subject was elderly and had a cane. He claimed to be blind in one eye and he asked to look at merchandise. In an effort to provide good customer service, some merchandise was shown to him from the store side of the gate. The subject left and the store was closed.

After performing inventory counts, the store realized a pendant was missing. An investigation identified the pendant was missing at the time the elderly male visited the store. Mall security looked at closed circuit television and saw a second subject reach through the gate and remove the necklace from a bin that was left unattended. The two subjects worked together.

The first subject was described as a 65-year-old Black male. He is frail, has thin legs and he is hunched over. He walked with a cane. The second subject is a Black male. He is of unknown age and has a medium build. He wore a hat and was also wearing all black. If you have any information regarding these subjects, please email the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at jsa2@jewelerssecurity.org
