Tyler, TX – On January 26, 2018, Tyler Police arrested 26-year-old Justin Bryant Davis and charged him with third-degree theft.

According to police, Davis stole more than $50,000 from his employer over a six month period. The business owner contacted a detective and told him that Davis was altering the amount of cash being paid for jewelry that was sold to the company by customers. Investigators say the thefts occurred between June and December 2017.

On January 8, 2018, the owner reported that a $500 receipt had been altered to show a price of $1,500. After changing the receipt, Davis removed $1,000 from the register.

On January 22, 2018, the owner and a private investigator confronted Davis about the altered receipts. Davis admitted to taking between $20,000 and $25,000. However, the private investigator compiled a spreadsheet that showed a total of $52,262 in cash was taken from the business.

The private investigator also contacted Davis’s previous employer, which was also a jewelry store. The former employer confirmed that while Davis was employed by her, the store’s register and cash were off everyday. She said the day after Davis left the business, there was no further discrepancy.
