On the date listed above, this suspect claimed that $100,000 of his and his wife’s jewelry was stolen. He then stated he only received $40,000 from the insurance company.
The suspect said his wife of 25 years is heartbroken. As an anniversary present, he wanted to get a jewelry box and fill it. He then spent the next two hours in the store conversing about sentimental stories. He examined and rebuffed several items, until a tray of 44 pieces was presented.
He managed to palm two gold chains when an associate in front of him was measuring them. The suspect then said he wanted to quickly go through the tray to make sure he knew what he wanted. At this point, he would lift a piece and then another. He palmed six small pieces. The suspect asked for the items to be boxed. He said he would return later and then left the store. When the owner started going through the tray the next day, she realized pieces were missing. The suspect never returned.
The suspect is 5’8 and has a Christ tattoo on his left inner forearm. He also has a mermaid on the outside of his right forearm. He appears to conduct research on his target business and talks about being referred by other customers.
