SNEAK THEFT – TOMS RIVER, NJ

On 8/12/23 at 4:00 p.m., a male guest entered a jewelry store and was greeted by a team member. He stated that he was looking for tennis bracelets as a gift. He was taken to the bracelet case where the understock drawer was opened to see bracelets that were being kept there. The subject squatted down and put his hand inside the drawer with the team member looking on. Several items were picked up by the subject and the team member, and returned to the drawer when finished reviewing. When the guest stood up it appeared that he was holding something in his hand that he placed in his pocket.

He looked at a few more things and then left the store without making a purchase. On 8/14/23, when case counts were completed, a bracelet was determined to be missing. Video review identified this incident.

Subject Description: White Male, 35 to 45 years old. About 6’0″ and 190 lbs with an athletic build. He has short brown hair and was last seen wearing a navy blue t-shirt and green cargo shorts. Jewelry store and bank robbery suspect charged after committing armed robberies

Waco, TX – On August 17, 2023, the Waco, TX Police Department announced that John Rainwater, 42, (featured) had been charged in connection to a robbery at a jewelry store after he was arrested for, and in custody for committing bank robberies. On July 21, Rainwater was arrested for two bank robberies in Waco, TX. Both of those robberies occurred last year; one in October and one in April. Police discovered that employees had their hands tied during the robbery in April.

At the time of Rainwater’s arrest police found a high-end watch that was later confirmed to have been stolen from a jewelry store that experienced a gunpoint robbery on June 17, 2023. Two other people were also arrested and implicated in the jewelry store robbery. On August 4, 2923, Tontanisha Freeman was arrested in August for theft by possession, because she allegedly pawned jewelry that was stolen from the robbery. Lawanda Joiner was arrested in Waco on August 4, 2023, for theft by possession for allegedly transporting the stolen jewelry to Freeman.

Detectives from the Waco Police Department’s Special Crimes Unit implicated Rainwater in the jewelry store robbery because of his “likeness and consistency with how he committed each robbery”. A criminal complaint also stated Rainwater had the same “physical build, height, and weight” as the subject from the jewelry store robbery,

3 subjects wanted for violent smash and grab robbery

Corona, CA – On August 20, 2023, four subjects entered a jewelry store and proceeded to pepper spray an employee. The subjects then used hammers to smash several display cases. They placed jewelry into a trash can, then ran out of the store, and entered into a nearby getaway vehicle, which was described as a white Chevrolet Malibu that did not have license plates.

Police pursued the getaway vehicle, and eventually performed a PIT maneuver which allowed them to disable the vehicle. Two of the five subjects in the car were arrested. The other three subjects escaped. The three subjects were described as men in their late teens or early twenties.

SMASH AND GRAB – PHILADELPHIA, PA

On August 19th, 2023, shortly after 7:00 p.m., four male subjects entered a jewelry store and pepper sprayed employees, and then used a sledgehammer to break into jewelry display cases. The subjects then escaped.

GRAB AND RUN – HOLYOKE, MA

On 8/18/23, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a female subject asked to see a pair of earrings. During the presentation, the subject grabbed the earrings from the sales associate’s hand and then fled from the store. The subject was described as a White female with dirty blonde hair in her early 30’s. She is heavy set, 5’2″, and has brown eyes. GROUP WANTED FOR ROBBERY – CONCORD, NC

On 8/16/23, at approximately 6:30 p.m., four subjects wearing masks and hoodies used a hammer to smash a display case. The subjects stole two high-end watches and left the scene before the police arrived. Surveillance footage captured the subjects fleeing in a red Toyota Rav4. SHOTS FIRED DURING ROBBERY – PALM SPRINGS, CA

On 8/15/23, at around 3:05 p.m., two male subjects entered a jewelry store with hammers. Police later confirmed that shots were fired by an employee. The subjects fled from the store on foot. Police have not released a description of the subjects or whether or not the subjects obtained any jewelry. There were no injuries in this incident.
