Suspect arrested after committing two robberies within two weeks

Annapolis, MD – A 32-year-old suspect named Julia Libby, was arrested on June 12, 2023, after she allegedly committed two robberies within a two-week period.

On May 31, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Libby entered a jewelry store and conversed with employees about jewelry. At some point, Libby lifted her shirt to reveal she had a gun, and she demanded jewelry. She fled from the store after she obtained jewelry.

On June 12, 2023, Libby entered another jewelry store and asked to see two watches. As the employee was about to present the watches, Libby tried to grab the items. The employee held onto the jewelry, which resulted in Libby showing a handgun underneath her shirt. The employee refused to give up the watches, and Libby then fled without taking any jewelry.

Libby was arrested later that day in another jurisdiction. She was found with a handgun in her possession. She is connected to at least five other thefts in Prine George’s and Anne Arundel Counties.

International gold thief arrested, extradited, then released

Rockville, MD – On June 13, 2022, a 32-year-old international gold thief was extradited from Lubbock, TX to Rockville, MD. The suspect, identified as Mircea Lucaci, had been wanted for stealing gold from a coin shop in August 2022.

GRAB AND RUN – SPRINGFIELD, MO

On 06/12/23, a grab and run occurred at a jewelry store.� A male subject requested to see multiple chains and charms for purchase.� During the presentation, the team member removed one chain and charm for viewing.� � As the subject placed the chain and charm on, he proceeded to laugh at the store team and fled the location with both stolen pieces.� A partial license plate was obtained.� The subject reportedly left the mall premises in a Black 4-door Volvo.�

Subject description: Black male, mid to late ’40s, 5’5″ with a heavy build.

GRAB AND RUN – HIALEAH, FL

On 6/9/23 at 5:300 p.m., an unidentified male subject approached a jewelry kiosk. The team leader greeted him but he did not respond. The Team Leader went to lunch and upon her return, the subject approached the kiosk again asking for help. The team leader assisted him by showing him the necklace he originally asked for. She mentioned that it might be long for him, so she suggested another. He started shaking and stuttering. He said he would take the one she recommended. He then asked to see diamonds.

The subject asked to see the chain and diamond earrings together and the team leader declined as she was starting to get suspicious of him because he never made eye contact during the entire transaction. The subject demanded that she show both pieces together, and again, she declined. He then asked to see the necklace by itself which he was allowed to do, and once he had it in his possession, he ran off with the necklace.

Subject(s) Description:

Black male, approximately 25-30 years old, 5’7″, 175 lbs, with a medium build. H was last seen wearing a grey sweater with the writing “Ristretto to Take Away”, a black California baseball cap, black jeans, braided hair, no distinguishing marks, and double ear piercing.

GRAB AND RUN – NEWARK, CA

On 6/4/23, at approximately 4:40 p.m., a grab and run occurred at a jewelry store. An unknown male subject expressed interest in men’s necklaces. Once a Cuban necklace was removed from the showcase, the subject grabbed the necklace and ran from the location. The subject was described as a Hispanic male in his late 20’s. He is approximately 5’4” �” 5’6”, and has a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black/red Chicago Bulls hat, s grey/black zip-up jacket, torn blue jeans, and white/black Jordan brand shoes. Five suspects with ties to the mafia arrested for gunpoint robberies

New York, NY – On June 6, 2023, five men were arrested in New York and New Jersey, for their involvement in two jewelry store robberies. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and police have connected the men to the notorious Gambino and Lucchese crime families.

Representatives from the New York Police Department said the subjects wore construction vests to commit both of their robberies in Manhattan, NY.

In the first robbery on January 3, 2023, four robbers, including DiPietro, and 67-year-old Michael Sellick, targeted a high-end store that is known to have celebrity clientele. The crew held a clerk at gunpoint, stole jewelry, and ordered the clerk into a closet,.

The crew committed their second jewelry store robbery in Manhattan, NY on May 20, 2023. In this incident, DiPietro and Sellick entered the store. Sellick pointed a gun at the store’s employees and ordered them to the ground. At this time, DiPietro gathered the jewelry. The subjects then fled from the store and entered a getaway car driven by Samuel Sorce, 25. The subjects then switched to a second getaway vehicle driven by Vincent Spagnuolo, 65.

DiPietro had previously served a 19-year federal prison sentence in relation to a mob killing of a witness.

DISTRACTION THEFT – WICHITA, KS

On 05/29/23, a male and female subject approached a jewelry store multiple times during the day inquiring about pieces.� At approximately 4:00 p.m, the couple returned, and the male subject had money visibly in hand, wanting to see a chain and ring.� The female subject also requested to see a ring.� During the presentation, and as the subjects asked questions distracting the team member, one of the pieces was stolen.� Both the male and female subjects stated they did not have the missing piece, and walked away from the store.�

Subject Descriptions:

Subject 1:� Black male, short black hair, tattoo between eyebrows, 40-45 years old, approximately 140-145 lbs, 5’9 – 6′.� He was last seen wearing a white shirt with red graffiti pants, and white and black shoes.

Subject 2:� Black female, 30-35 years old, approximately 200-250 lbs and 5’5″, black braided hair, brown eyes.� She was last seen wearing a red hat, a white and red baseball button-up shirt, and denim blue jeans. GRAB AND RUN – EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ

On 5/20/23, at 6:00 p.m., a male subject entered a jewelry store and requested to see a men’s diamond ring.� He was taken to the case and shown a ring.� He stated he wanted to compare it to another ring.� While the team member was taking the other ring from the case, the subject grabbed the first ring from his hand and fled out of the store.� The subject was described as a Black male. He is 6’0″ with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and dark mask. GRAB AND RUN – DICKSON CITY, PA

On 5/20/23, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a male subject entered a jewelry store and was approached by a team member and asked if he needed help seeing something, to which he replied he was just looking.� While all team members were busy helping other guests, the subject went over to the spinner containing medals.� While there he was observed opening the spinner door and removing several pieces of jewelry.� Team members reacted to this and the subject fled out of the store in an unknown direction.� After a brief inspection, it appeared that 9 pieces of jewelry were missing from the spinner.

Suspect(s) Description:� Asian Male, 5’5″ to 5’8″, thin build-about 120lbs, wearing a blue and white button
