DIAMOND SWITCH – WEBSTER, TX

On 4/10/23, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a subject entered a jewelry store and said he wanted to look at diamonds. He was described as low-key and didn’t talk much. He asked for 2-carat loose stones. Diamonds were not tested during the presentation. After the subject left the store, it was determined that one of the diamonds he handed back didn’t appear to be a diamond. It was tested and determined to be cubic zirconia. The subject was described as a 55-year-old Black male. He is 5’9″, and weighs approximately 200 lbs. He was last seen wearing glasses, a blue jacket, a pink print button-down shirt, pink shorts, a black “I Do Crew” hat, and white tennis shoes. DISTRACTION THEFT – HOOVER, AL

On 4/8/2023, at approximately 2:44 p.m., a distraction theft occurred at a jewelry store in Hoover, AL. A male and female couple were shopping for a gold chain and pendant. The couple claimed to have a budget of around $1,700 to spend. The male subject was insistent on purchasing a gold chain, pendant, and diamond ring for this price. Team members assisted the couple with multiple options available within their budget. The couple settled on a clearance gold rope chain and cross pendant. During the interaction, one of the subjects wanted to view the diamond ring again. When presented with the ring, the subject placed the ring on his right pinky finger and wore it in the store while engaging with team members. During the sale transaction of the chain and pendant, the subject removed the ring from his finger and concealed it in his pocket. He left the store without payment while his girlfriend paid for the other merchandise. Subject Descriptions:

Male, black, dark complexion, 45 years old, 6’, 200 lbs, scruffy goatee and diamond grill on front teeth. Wearing a khaki ball cap, mustard long sleeve hoodie with graphics, dark pants, and work boots.

Female, black, dark complexion, thin, petite build, 25 years old. She was last seen wearing a black long sleeve hooded jacket, light colored pants, and carrying a small black purse.

DISTRACTION THEFT – GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO

On 04/03/23, a male and female team working together requested to see chains at a retail jewelry store.� Both subjects then split up to both ends of the showcase.� The male subject requested to see a chain, and he sought assistance putting it on from the team member.� As the team member was doing this, the female subject placed her hands in the showcase and removed a chain, then concealing said piece.� Both subjects then proceeded to a second showcase, repeating the same pattern, with the female subject reaching inside the showcase, and concealing a ring, as the team member was being distracted by the male subject.� Both subjects then exited the store.�

Subject(s) Descriptions:

Suspect 1: Hispanic female, 5’7″, mid to late 30’s, medium build, brown hair, brown eyes, spoke Spanish.� He was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark pants, and tennis shoes.

Suspect 2: Hispanic male, 6′, slim build.� He was last seen wearing a dark coat and a dark ball cap.

GRAB AND RUN – STATEN ISLAND, NY

On 4/3/23, at approximately 5:50 p.m., a male subject entered a jewelry store and requested to see a ¾ ct. tw. star shaped ring. The sales associate presented the ring to the subject. While holding the ring, the subject requested to look at a second ring. When the sales associate went to retrieve the second ring, the subject fled from the kiosk with the star shaped ring. The subject was described as a 30 to 35 year old Hispanic male. He weighs 200 lbs., and he has a beard. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a hat, and sneakers. He also has a facial tattoo. SMASH AND GRAB – CONCORD, CA

On 3/31/23, at approximately 7:06 p.m., police received a call stating that three masked subjects entered a jewelry store and used hammers to smash display cases. The subjects stole jewelry and then fled in an awaiting vehicle. They were described as three Black males in dark clothing. Subject committing armed robbery

West Valley City, UT – On March 25, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a male subject entered an in-door swap meet, and then went to a booth selling jewelry. The subject then took out a gun and fired several shots at employees. He proceeded to then use a hammer to smash open the display cases and then fled from the business. One worker was grazed by a bullet, and all survived.

The subject was described as being Hispanic and between 5’8″ and 6 ‘0″ tall. He wore all black, including a black beanie, tan boots, sunglasses, and an American flag bandanna, that covered his face. SMASH AND GRAB ROBBERY – MONTCLAIR, CA

On 3/26/23, at approximately 12:34 p.m., a male subject entered a department store’s jewelry section. The individual then proceeded to remove a sledgehammer from his waistband and then smashed the display case containing gold chains. The subject removed multiple gold chain products from the case before he exited the store. He was last seen entering a White Jeep Wrangler. No physical description of the male was provided, however, he did wear a cross on his chain. Daniel Bright

Robber killed by jeweler

Denver, CO – On April 6, 2023, a 31-year-old robber, identified as Daniel Bright, was shot and killed by an employee of a pawn shop. During the robbery, which occurred six minutes after the store opened, Bright went to the store’s salespeople at gunpoint, and said “open the jewelry case.”

The pawn shops jeweler was at the opposite end of the store when the robbery started. The jeweler, a 45-year-old man, approached the robber from behind and shot and killed him.

The suspect featured below is the deceased, Daniel Bright. He was identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. Bright has previously received a 10-year prison sentence for a robbery committed in Denver, CO.

GRAB AND RUN – PLEASANTON, CA

On 3/25/23, at approximately 6:40 p.m., a grab and run occurred at a retail jewelry store. A male subject entered the location and requested to view a gold chain and gold bracelet combination. As the subject went to hand back the gold chain/pendant to the team member, the subject held onto the gold chain/pendant combination, grabbed the gold bracelet in the team members’ hand, and ran from the location with all items. The subject was described as a Hispanic male, in his late-20’s to early-30’s. He is approximately 5’4” �” 5’6”, with a heavy build. He was last seen wearing a multi-colored hat, black/white zip-up jacket, white shirt, light blue jeans, and white shoes.
