SMASH AND GRAB – BIRCH RUN, MI

On 12/12/2024, at 6:34 p.m., four subjects ran into a jewelry store armed with pepper spray and a hammer. The subjects smashed four showcases, gained entry into two, and removed diamond clearance and preowned product. The pepper spray was set off inside the store. The subjects were in and out of the location in under a minute. Birch Run Police were contacted and are investigating further.

Subject Descriptions: Four subjects believed to be male, wearing black hoodies, gloves, and masks. One wearing ripped jeans, two gray sweatpants, one black pants.

GRAB AND RUN – MONROE, NC

On 12/11/2024, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a subject entered a jewelry store and said that he was looking for a gift for his girlfriend. He said he was looking for a ring for her, and he said that he had her on FaceTime and she was looking at rings through he phone. It appeared that her face was partially covered.

The girlfriend pointed out the ring in question, and he was shown the ring. The team member was placing a different ring back in the showcase, and this ring was still in the ring display on the counter. As she was putting the second ring back, he grabbed this ring and fled the location.

Subject Description: Male, black, 23-24 yrs old, 5’10, thin build, yellow hoodie covered by a jean jacket, jeans, and black and white shoes wearing a black face mask.

Jeweler Shot and Killed in Sacramento, CA

Sacramento, CA – On November 15, 2024, at approximately 11:45 a.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to a jewelry store after five to six subjects went into the store with crowbars and other items, when they proceeded to smash glass.

During the robbery, one of the business’s owners fired towards the robbers. It is believed the robbers returned fire. The business owner’s wife was shot and died. At this time, it is unclear who shot the business owner’s wife.

The SCSO described the subjects as young White or Hispanic males who arrived at the store in two separate vehicles and removed an unknown amount of jewelry from the store. A detailed description of the vehicles has not yet been provided, but they are believed to be sedans.

Jeweler Murdered During Home Invasion

Oakland County, MI – On October 10, 2024, at 10:00 p.m., two men wearing high-visibility vests were captured on Ring camera footage announcing themselves as being from DTE, an energy company based in Detroit, MI.

The men had come to a home in Rochester Hills, MI where 72-year-old jeweler, Hussein Murray (featured) had lived with his wife.

The two men had claimed they were checking for gas leaks. They did not gain entry into the house that night, but they returned to the home the following day around noon, at which time they were allowed into the home. Murray’s wife told police that Murray brought the men into the basement to check for the purported gas leak.

Eventually, police arrived at the scene and found Murray’s wife tied up with duct tape. Officers found Murray’s body in the basement, where there was a significant amount of blood. Murray had died as a result of his injuries. The exact manner of Murray’s death has not yet been determined.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard has advised people to be cautious of those claiming to be from a utility company or another company seeking to gain access to their homes.

As of Saturday evening, one suspect was arrested, while another remains at large. Sheriff Bouchard announced the following:

“We can’t release a lot of information at this point but wanted to communicate that in conjunction with our great partners we have suspect number one, the Hispanic male shown in the video, in custody in Shreveport, Louisiana”

Bouchard also said “We are communicating with the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office on formal charges and meanwhile, we continue to encourage the public to give us any information or tips about suspect number two”

The suspect below, identified as Carlos Jose Hernandez, 37 of Dearborn, Mi was arrested on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Shreveport, LA. Hernandez had been identified as one of the men who was wanted in connection to the murder of Hussein Murray. Hernandez was arrested without incident by Deputies from the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office after they conducted a traffic stop of Hernandez’s vehicle. Hernandez has been charged with felony murder and two counts of unlawful imprisonment.

Update: On October 14, 2024, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office announced that the second suspect who was wanted in connection to Murray’s homicide has been arrested. The suspect was taken into custody without incident as a result of a traffic stop. The suspect was located in Plymouth Township, MI.

GRAB AND RUN – TAMPA, FL

On 11/06/2024, at approximately 1:50 pm, two male subjects returned to a jewelry kiosk in a mall after having previously visited the location with a female guest, earlier that day. The male subjects alleged they were interested in purchasing a diamond necklace and bracelet. Subject 1 requested to try on the necklace. While he was wearing the necklace, he also requested to compare a matching bracelet. The sales associate presented the bracelet to the subject. Subject 1 took possession of the bracelet and shortly after ran from the store. Subject 2 was in the process of completing a credit application but ran along with subject 1. Subject 2 claimed his name was Vincent.

Subject Descriptions:
Subject 1: Male, Black, 5’6”, 20 to 25 years old, thin build, wearing black clothing, tattoos on his neck and arms. Joker tattoo on his hand and Flame tattoo on his neck.


Subject 2: Male, Black, 6’3”, 20 to 25 years old, medium build, wearing blue jeans, tattoos on his neck and arms.

BURGLARY- WAIPAHU, HI

On 11/1/2024, at 2:55 a.m., a male subject made entry into a jewelry store by hitting the front door with a small sledgehammer which popped the glass window and frame of the front door down on the floor. The male smashed one display case with the small sledgehammer, removed items from the display case, placed the items in a large black plastic bag and exited the store. Honolulu Police and mall security were notified, arrived and a report was filed.

Subject Description: Male, 5’11, 160 lbs., black hoodie, mask, black gloves, black pants, and black shoes. He was last seen carrying a large black plastic bag.

GRAB AND RUN – LITTLE ROCK, AR

On 10/17/2024, at approximately 1:15 p.m., a retail jewelry store was the victim of a grab and run theft. A lone male entered the store and stated he was shopping for an engagement ring. He approached the case to inspect various bridal diamond rings and initially commented on financing his purchase. During the process, the subject changed his mind and said he would just pay in cash. He pointed to the 1cttw Twist Bridal set and was presented with the one set. Once in his possession, the subject fled the store with the diamond ring.

Subject Description: Male, black, 5’10”, approximately 200 lbs, 45-50 years old, dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a ball cap, a surgical mask, a black long-sleeve pull over shirt, khaki pants and tennis shoes.

GRAB AND RUN – GREENDALE, WI

On 10/21/2024, at 12:15 p.m., a male subject came into a jewelry for the second time. He came to the store the day before to look at earrings. He returned on 10/21/2024 and said he wanted to buy a pair of earrings to cover a rip in his ear and another pair for his girlfriend. The two pair of earrings were taken to the register to be purchased. The subject then grabbed the earrings from the register and fled from the store. This subject is believed to have committed a similar theft in Greendale, WI on 10/18/2024.

Subject Description: Black, Male, 5’9″, Medium Build, 30 Years Old, Ripped Earlobe, Dreads, Beige Hoodie, Blue Jeans.

BURGLARY – CASTLE ROCK, CO

On 10/03/2024, at 2:35 a.m., a male subject cut the glass on a jewelry store’s front door and entered the store. The subject then smashed and removed items out of two display cases with a small hammer. He placed the items into a gray duffle bag and exited the store. This subject is also responsible for another burglary at a jewelry store in Greenwood Springs, CO on September 27, 2024.

Subject Description: Caucasian or Hispanic male, thin build, black hoodie, dark mask, dark pants, black shoes, orange gloves and grey duffle bag.

SMASH & GRAB – AVONDALE, AZ

On 10/2/2024, a jewelry store was the victim of a smash and grab robbery. At 7:40 p.m., a juvenile male entered the store and proceeded to the store sales associates. The juvenile male removed a weapon from right pants pocket. Another juvenile male and juvenile female entered the store with a tote bag and the second male smashed two cases with a garden pick. The female and male juvenile began to remove items out of the display cases and into the tote bag. The sales associates were then ordered and escorted to the backroom by the juvenile male with the weapon. All three juvenile subjects then fled the store.

Subject Description: First juvenile male: 16-18 years old, 5’10, 150-160 lbs, black ski mask, black t-shirt, black glove on right hand, dark tan pants, and white shoes.

Second juvenile male: 16-18 years old, 5’5, 150-160lbs, with a humpback stance, red bandana over face, black hat, white t-shirt, long grey shorts, long black socks, black/white gloves, and black shoes.

Third juvenile female: 16-18 years old, 100 lbs, 5’0, black/brown long hair, black hat, black mask, black hoodie, black shorts, short black socks, white shoes, and carried a large beige tote bag.
