On 6/22/13, at approximately 1:35 pm, a subject went directly to a high end watch case and proceeded to remove a hand-held sledgehammer from his waist. He smashed the top of the glass repeatedly until it broke. He then grabbed 3 watches before running out of the store. The subject was caught by good Samaritans and they managed to apprehend him. The subject was bleeding from his arm after he cut himself on the glass display case.
SMASH AND GRAB – TROY, MI
On 6/21/16, at approximately 6:15 p.m., two suspects removed small hammers and began to break display cases of jewelry. The suspects escaped with about 6 watches. Both suspects are described as Black males. The first suspect wore a white shirt, tan jacket and blue jean shorts. The second suspect wore a dark purple shirt and black pants. GRAB AND RUN – PORT ARTHUR, TX
On 6/20/16, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a subject asked to see wedding sets. He spent twenty to thirty minutes in the location. When the sales associate took a piece from the case and had it in her hand, the subject asked if he could see how heavy it was. She gave it to him and he then fled from the location with the set. The subject was described as an African American in his late 20’s. He is 5’11 and weighs 200lbs. He has very short hair and wore sunglasses with a navy blue thermal type shirt. He also wore jeans and work boots. He looked as if he were coming from work. JEWELER MISCONDUCT – VENTURA, CA
On 6/16/16, a Ventura jewelry store owner named Ara Ghazarian, 54 was arrested. He is accused of switching customer’s diamonds with moissanite. In May 2016, one of Ghazarian’s customers knew something was wrong with her ring. When she took it to second jeweler, he informed her that the diamond was replaced with moissanite. Another victim had a similar experience, when a family heirloom ring was replaced with moissanite. Ghazsrian was arrested on two counts of grand theft.

Grab and run theft Subject
On June 11, 2016, the subject in the accompanying image committed a grab and run theft from a Jewelry store in New York. This is the third crime he has committed in a span of two weeks.
GRAB AND RUN – ASHEVILLE, N.C.
On 6/13/16, at approximately 5:55 p.m. a subject was shown two pieces of jewelry and then grabbed them and fled from the store. The male subject was wearing white pants with a blue and white striped button down shirt. The subject also had blonde hair and blue eyes. Armed Robbery
On June 15, 2016 at approximately 5:40 p.m., a subject entered a jewelry for the third time in the same day. On his third entry he displayed a gun and stole a large quantity of jewelry.
DIAMOND SWITCH – FLORENCE, AL
On 6/15/16, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a female subject inquired about silver diamond bands. She was shown an anniversary band that matched her description. Then the subject’s sister entered the store asking questions, which gave the subject the opportunity to remove the tag from the ring. The tag fell on the floor and a CZ anniversary ring was returned to the sales associate. The subject left the store with the diamond anniversary ring. The subject was later spotted in the mall and arrested.
