GRAB AND RUN – MESA, AZ

On 11/05/23, a grab and run theft occurred at a retail jewelry store. A male subject requested to see specific chains and charms. As the team member presented the chains and charms, the subject grabbed the merchandise from team members hand, and fled from the location. There were no reports of injury. A report was filed with the Mesa, AZ. Police Department, who will continue the investigation.

SUBJECT IMPLIES HE HAS WEAPON – ELIZABETH, NJ

On 11/2/23, at 9:05 p.m., a jewelry kiosk inside a mall reported a grab and run theft had occurred. A lone male approached the kiosk at closing, and insisted on looking at a chain and charm. When presented the items, the subject grabbed them, and fled out of the mall. Mall security was contacted and the Elizabeth Police Department responded at 10:00 p.m., to take a report. In speaking with the store team, it was later learned that the subject was holding his waist with one hand, inferring he had a weapon during the entire interaction. There were no injuries and Elizabeth PD will continue the investigation.

REACH IN THEFT – HOUSTON, TX

On 10/31/23, at approximately 7:49 a.m., two males returned to a jewelry store after a previous visit. The associate recalled their prior visit, and switched with another associate to assist the subjects. The associate allowed each subject to try on a chain, one at a time, and secured the case after removing each chain. One of the subjects asked to see a different chain. The associate went to return the chain to the case, and both subjects forced their way into the case and grabbed several chains. The subjects then fled from the store. Police and mall security were immediately notified. No associate or customer injuries
were reported.

Subject 1-African American Male, mid 20’s, 6’3″, Nasa jacket with galaxy, blk/gray beanie, and gray shoes.
Subject 2-African American Male, mid 20’s, 5’7″, black jacket with gold and silver, black pants, and black shoes.

5 Suspects indicted following armed robbery

Waco, TX – On October 26, 2023, five suspects were indicted following an armed robbery at a jewelry store in Waco, TX.

A grand jury in McLennan County indicted 42-year-old John Rainwater, with an enhanced aggravated robbery charge, for robbery at a jewelry store on June 17, 2023. In that robbery, Rainwater is being accused of having pointed a gun at employees, and bound them with zip-ties, before proceeding to rob the store. Rainwater is facing life in prison.

GRAB AND RUN – PEMBROKE PINES, FL

On 10/29/23, a male and female entered a jewelry store at 4:43 p.m., walked around the store, then asked for assistance at the gold showcase. The male subject was interested in gold chains and bracelets, and the sales associate presented a number of options, but the subject wasn�t interested. Finally, he asked to see a gold chain, and the sales associate placed it on his neck. After a few minutes, he asked to see a matching gold bracelet, and the sales associate placed it on his wrist. The subject looked at himself in the mirror, then ran from the store. His female companion quickly followed him and ran out. The couple was in the store for ten minutes, and a few minutes before running, the subject was on his cell phone. Suspect arrested following gunpoint robbery

Greenwich, CT – On October 28, 2023 at approximately 3:43 p.m., 19-yer-old Edgardo Bautista-Gallardo was arrested after he allegedly committed an armed robbery at a jewelry store.

Bautista-Gallardo entered the jewelry store and asked to see jewelry, while wearing a makeup and a wig. After the jewelry was shown, he allegedly brandished a gun and threatened to shoot a security guard and employees of the store, if they didn’t give him jewelry. Gallardo was given the jewelry, then fled from the store.

The security guard followed Bautista-Gallardo and called 911, to alert them of the suspect’s direction.

The Greenwich police were in the area, and they chased Bautista-Gallardo and eventually arrested him. Police recovered a BB gun. Gallardo is facing charges of robbery, larceny, four counts of threatening, interfering with an officer, and breach of peace.

SMASH AND GRAB – EASTVALE, CA

On 10/24/23, at 1:09 p.m., a jewelry store experienced an attempted armed robbery/smash & grab. As a silver Toyota Camry backed into a parking space immediately in front of this off-mall location, three hooded, masked, and gloved subjects exited the vehicle and approached the store�s front entrance carrying white tall kitchen style trash cans.

As the subjects began to open the front door to enter the store, the armed security guard who was posted just inside of the front doors, noticed the subjects, and as they also noticed the guard, two of the subjects proceeded to spray towards the guard with an unknown substance. Once the subjects noticed the guard was armed, they all began to retreat and head back to their vehicle where they sped away.

Subject #1 � Male black, late teens/early twenties, thin build. Last seen wearing a black hooded sweat top, black Nike sweatpants, white hi-top tennis shoes, and black gloves. He carried a white tall kitchen style trash can.

Viral Smash & Grab Robber, Arrested for Homicide After Victim’s Body Found Floating in Barrel

Malibu, CA – On October 3, 2023, two men identified as 37-year-old Joshua Lee Simmons and 41-year-old Dennis Eugene Vance, were arrested for the murder of Javonnta Marshann Murphy.

On July 31, 2023, Murphy’s body was found in a barrel at Malibu Lagoon State Beach. Muphy’s cause of death was found to be a gunshot wound to the head.

Simmons and Vance were arraigned on October 5, 2023, and Simmons was charged for an attempted smash and grab robbery in El Monte, CA, that can be seen further below.

The motive for the killing remains unknown, however, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has stated, both suspects “are known to be acquaintances of the victim.”

Simmons has been charged with murder, personal use of a firearm and criminal threats. He also faces other charges including attempted robbery, criminal threats and personal use of bear spray for the attempted robbery.

Suspect arrested after dressing as Mannequin to steal jewelry

Warsaw, Poland – On October 18, 2023, the Warsaw Police announced that a 22-year-old male suspect has been arrested for pretending to be a mannequin in a storefront. The suspect stood for hours in the store’s window without moving.

The featured image shows the suspect standing motionless while he is holding a bag in his hand, while he is standing next to two actual mannequins. Once the store was closed, the subject stole from a jewelry stand, and he changed the clothes he was wearing.

The suspect, whose identity was not released, was observed by a guard, who then called police. The suspect was charged with burglary and theft, and he faces up to 10 year in prison for this crime.

SMASH AND GRAB – LAS CRUCES, NM

On 10/4/23, at 5:46 p.m., a smash and grab was reported to have occurred at a retail jewelry store. As the subject walked into the store to the gold chain showcase and after briefly stopping, he removed a hammer from inside of his sweat top and began banging on two of the showcases. Shortly after breaking through the showcases, the subject began to select various gold pieces from the showcases. After removing the contents, the subject ran from the store with the stolen gold chains.
