Final suspect pleads guilty in Palm Desert jewelry store robbery

Palm Springs, CA – July 27, 2024 – A Colton man pleaded guilty Wednesday to his involvement in a Palm Desert jewelry store robbery more than two years ago and was immediately sentenced to three years in prison.   

Demetrius Thornton, 25, entered the guilty plea to a felony robbery charge at the Larson Justice Center in Indio. A related charge of assault with a deadly weapon was dismissed, and enhancements for being an armed person and use of a weapon during a felony were stricken.

Man who robbed stores in Bellmead, Waco sentenced to 10 years in prison.

PLANO, Texas (KWTX) – July 11, 2024 – A Plano man who robbed a Metro PCS store in Bellmead and stole a ring from a Waco jewelry store in May 2022 was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday.

Kevin Angelo Simmons, 28, pleaded guilty to robbery and felony theft charges in a plea bargain with prosecutors. Judge Thomas West of 19th State District Court accepted the plea agreement and sentenced Simmons to 10 years in prison and 12 months in a state jail facility, respectively. He will serve the sentences concurrently.

A Long Island man faces life in prison for gunpoint robbery of jewelry store, according to Federal Authorities

Queens, NY- July 10, 2024 – A Long Island resident has been federally charged for being part of a crew that committed a violent gunpoint robbery at a Jackson Heights jewelry store in December of 2023, during which the store owner was shot.

Ildemar Chirinos-Torres, 29, of Freeport, was arraigned Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court on an indictment charging him with robbery of a jewelry store, discharging a firearm during the robbery and interstate transportation of stolen property.

Suspect arrested in Garden City, KS after armed robbery of jewelry store and restaurant

Garden City, KS – July 6, 2024 – A 49-year-old Wichita man remained in Finney County Jail on Saturday after armed robberies of a Garden City jewelry story and another nearly a month later of a restaurant occupied with customers, police said.

Alberto Rincon was arrested Thursday after he fled from police and then ran from the vehicle just east of Garden City, the Garden City Police Department said in a news release, adding he had a gun and drugs on him.

Rincon was being sought in connection to two armed robberies:

On May 4 at Joyeria America jewelry store, a man held an employee at gunpoint and stole property before taking off.

And on July 1, a man held Tacos El Tapatio employees and customers at “gunpoint before leaving with an undisclosed amount of money,” Garden City police said.

“Through an investigation, Rincon was identified as the suspect responsible for both robberies,” according to the Garden City police.

Rincon was arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of aggravated assault on an officer, aggravated battery, criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and drug related charges.

Alberto Rincon has convictions in the 1990s in Finney County for aggravated battery, criminal discharge of a gun at an occupied building or vehicle, fleeing or attempt to elude and driving with a suspended license, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records.

Police help FBI arrest 5 fugitives, with 2 of whom may be linked to international crimes

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — June 20, 2024 – Sioux Falls Police helped the FBI track down five fugitives who are part of a Romanian criminal network, and at least two of the suspects may be linked to international crimes.

Together, the five people are accused of stealing from businesses in at least 11 states and two countries.

Necklace worth nearly $100,000 stolen in Southern California jewelry store theft. Suspect arrested.

Downey, CA – June 17, 2024 – A suspect, Brandon Moore, a Parolee, was arrested after stealing a necklace worth nearly $100,000 was stolen from a Southern California jewelry store, according to Downey Police Department. 

It was reported that Moore entered the jewelry store and asked to see a necklace from a display case. After workers handed the necklace to him, he ran out of the store without paying for the item.

5 Suspects jailed in smash-and-grab robbery at Sunnyvale jewelry store following police chase

Sunnyvale, CA – June 13, 2024 – Five suspects were arrested on June 12, 2024 after a smash-and-grab robbery at a Sunnyvale jewelry store involving nearly two dozen suspects and a police chase.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the robbery happened Wednesday afternoon just before 1:30 p.m.. About 20 suspects used hammers and other tools to break jewelry display cases and steal the merchandise, fleeing in multiple vehicles before officers arrived, DPS said.

Arrests made in SoCal jewelry theft ring that cost businesses $1.5 million.

San Diego County, CA – May 31, 2024 – Law Enforcement officials report the crimes happened in April and May at stores in San Diego, Orange, Riverside, and Kern counties, according to the California Attorney General’s Office. Those identified in the criminal complaint were Rodney Allen Flynt, Sr. 31, Michael Anthony Jones, Jr., 32, Christopher Shawn Pate, 27, and Ryan Keith Pate, 31.

Montgomery County jewelry store owner shoots would-be burglar who broke in through a wall of Jewelry Store.

North Wales, PA – May 9, 2024 – A Montgomery County jewelry store owner shot a would-be burglar who broke into his store by cutting through walls, then drilled into a safe to steal jewelry.

The jeweler told police he walked into his store early Wednesday morning to find people wearing masks attempting to steal jewels. He got into a scuffle with a man — later identified as Timothy Overman — who was carrying a black canvas bag stuffed with jewelry and shot him in the right arm during the struggle, police said.
