On 1/14/17, at approximately 4:10 p.m., two suspects asked a sales associate to check if the stone in a ring they had was a diamond. One of the suspects then asked to see diamond engagement rings as the sales associate was in the process of diamond testing their ring. The suspect was shown a ring and told his ring did not test as a diamond. One of the suspects managed to hand off the ring to his accomplice as the associate was assisting them with the diamond test. One suspect was described as a Black male wearing a white shirt, black jacket and blue jeans. The second suspect was described as a Black female wearing a purple hoodie and blue jeans. ARMED ROBBERY – SHENANDOAH, TX – On 1/12/17, at approximately 1:30 p.m., three male suspects � stormed in a retail store with hammers. They smashed two display cases and then left. An eyewitness was able to provide a description of the getaway vehicle to police. The police pursued the suspects and arrested them.
DIAMOND SWITCH – CORPUS CHRISTI, TX
On 1/10/17, at approximately 6:40 p.m., a suspect committed a diamond switch. The suspect concealed a ring in his palm and then asked to see a diamond anniversary band. The suspect took the ring to the store’s gem-scope and examined the piece. When the sales associate was not paying attention, the suspect placed the ring into his shirt and left the fake ring in place. The associate realized the ring had been switched. When she asked the suspect to return the ring, the suspect denied any wrongdoing. He then left the store. DISTRACTION THEFT – ALTOONA, PA
On January 8, 2017 at approximately 12:15 p.m, a female suspect inquired about gold chains. The sales associate showed the suspect a gold rope chain. The suspect then asked to see a gold band. The sales associate allowed the suspect to be in possession of both items at the same time. � While the suspect held both pieces, she directed the sales associate’s attention to other cases and to her children. The suspect left the store with both items. The theft was not discovered until the following day. The suspect appeared to be a 40-year Middle Eastern female. On 1/5/17, at approximately 12:50 p.m., a suspect stated he was looking for “something big†for his 10 year anniversary. The sales associate asked the suspect what he bought his wife in the past. The suspect said “I don’t know but nothing this big†(referring to a diamond ring he was shown). The suspect then switched the real ring with a fake ring. He was described as a 55-year-old Middle Eastern Male. He wore a black two piece suit and a white button down shirt with black shoes. GRAB AND RUN – CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA
On 1/4/17, at approximately 6:45 p.m., two suspects inquired about rings. One of the suspects was given a ring to examine. The second suspect then slammed his hands down on the showcase. The first suspect reached over the counter and grabbed rings. Both suspects then fled. Both suspects were 25-year-old Black males. The first suspect is 6 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds. He also had dreadlocks. The second suspect was described as being 5’7†and weighing 150 pounds. He had short dreadlocks and gold teeth. He had rings on most of his fingers. JEWELER KILLED – VALLEJO, CA
On 12/20/16, a 49-year-old pawn shop owner Timothy Pult was shot and killed by an armed robber. Pult’s pawn shop specialized in jewelry. An employee of the pawn shop was also shot. The employee was in serious condition following the shooting. He is a paraplegic and was in his wheelchair at the time of the shooting. There were two suspects that wore hoodies. $6 MILLION BURGLARY
NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Three male suspects were involved in the commission of a burglary on New Year’s Eve, 2016. As thousands of people gathered in Times Square to celebrate the New Year, the suspects struck at 10:00 p.m. They broke into a building using a sledge hammer and a crowbar. On 12/24/16, at approximately 5:35 p.m., a male and female suspect requested to look at rings. While in possession of one ring, one of the suspects requested to look at less expensive rings. When the sales associate turned her head to check the prices, the suspects fled from the store. The suspects were described as Hispanic. They are both in their mid 20’s. TRIPLE HOMICIDE SUSPECTS ARRESTED
JUNCTION CITY, KS – On 12/20/16, Jamison Layne Townsend, 35, and Joshua Garcia, 37, were arrested in Junction City, KS. The two suspects have been charged with the homicide of three pawn shop employees on 12/17/16. They were charged with three counts of capital murder for the killing of Robert Ivy, 60, Ted McLemore, 77, and Bill Mosley, 81. According to the Geary County Sheriff’s Department in Junction, KS; deputies initiated a traffic stop for a red Dodge Charger with no registration on Interstate-70. The driver of the vehicle sped off and authorities pursued the vehicle. The vehicle drove on a road leading to a dead end. The driver crashed the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was Garcia. Deputies searched the surrounding area and found Garcia hiding in the backseat of another vehicle. Garcia’s vehicle, a red Dodge Charger matched the description of a vehicle captured at the scene of the homicide in Jackson, MS. His vehicle also matched the description of a vehicle used in a burglary of a jewelry store in Pascagoula, MS.
