On 8/10/16, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a suspect inquired about loose diamonds. As soon as the sales associate presented the diamonds to the suspect, he grabbed them and ran from the store. The suspect was described as a 23-year-old African American male. He is 5’9†and weighs 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a dark colored hat and a maroon colored plaid shirt and shorts. HOUSTON, TX – DIAMOND SWITCH
On 8/9/16, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a sales associate was assisting a suspect who wanted to see diamond bands. The suspect wanted to see a 1 carat band. After being shown the ring, he wanted to see a 2 carat band. As the sales associate went into the display case, he briefly took his eyes off of the suspect who was still in possession of the 1 carat band. The sales associate took the ring back from the suspect and handed her a new 2 carat ring. The sales associate placed the 1 carat ring back into the showcase without checking for an SKU tag or diamond testing the ring. The suspect then returned the 2 carat ring as well and left the store. The suspect managed to switch the real ring with a fake ring. The suspect is described as a Black female. She is 5’6†and weighs 220 pounds. She was last seen wearing a royal blue polo style shirt and black slacks. She has shoulder length wavy hair and brown eyes. She was wearing glasses and also carried a black purse. On 8/9/16, at approximately 3:30 a.m., surveillance footage captured a white male suspect burglarizing a jewelry store. The suspect is approximately 6’2†tall and weighs 190 pounds. GRAB AND RUN – WHEATON, MD
On 8/6/16, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a subject completed a credit application and selected a bracelet to purchase. The subject’s credit was declined. She then tried to use a pre-paid bank card. As the sales associate was processing the sale, the bracelet was placed on the subject’s wrist. After the second card was declined, the subject insisted that she gave the bracelet back. She then left the store. The subject was described as a black female in her late 20’s. She is 5’8†and weighs 215 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black and striped shirt, black pants and white shoes. She also has long braids. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY- NEW YORK, NY
On 8/7/16, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a subject inquired about a chain in a display case. As one of the sales associates went in the back of the store to get the key, the subject brandished an air gun and held it up to the female associates head. The woman screamed, which led the male associate to confront the subject. The male associate tried to wrestle the gun from the subject. The subject managed to retain control of the BB gun. When he pulled the trigger, the gun fell apart. The subject then fled the store. He was described as a 6’2†black male. He weighs 160 pounds and is 23-years-old. DISTRACTION THEFT – ROSEMONT, IL
On 7/30/16, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a male and female subject inquired about purchasing gold. The sales associate showed multiple gold chains. The male subject asked to see multiple chains at one time. He clumped the chains in his hand, as if he was estimating the weight. A second sales associate was asked to assist in the presentation. After the subject estimated the weight, he handed the chains back as a clump. However, he kept one chain during his hand. As this happened, the female subject asked questions in an effort to distract the associates. She pointed across the display cases, to another part of the store. The male subject asked about the price and flashed a large amount of cash during the presentation. These subjects have committed at least seven similar crimes in FL, IL, TX, CA and LA. Both subjects are described as Hispanic or Middle Eastern. The male is approximately 25-years-old and has a short beard and short hair. He was last seen wearing a white NIKE t-shirt, black hat and sunglasses. The female subject was last seen with blonde highlighted hair pulled into a bun. On 8/2/16, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a suspect requested to see solitaires. After one was presented, he grabbed it and ran from the store. The suspect was described as a 30-year-old African American male. He is 5’10†and weighs 200 pounds. He has tattoos on his forearms and has a stubble beard. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, green levi shirt and baggie pants. SMASH AND GRAB – NORTH WALES, PA
On 8/22/16, at approximately 11:24 a.m. three subjects smashed jewelry display cases with hammers and stole jewelry. All three wore black clothing and masks. The subjects were described as three Black males. The robbery took only 36 seconds. ARMED ROBBERY – GREENVILLE, S.C
On 7/30/16, shortly before 5:00 p.m., two subjects took part in an armed robbery of a jewelry store. Both subjects wore motorcycle helmets. Only one of the subjects entered the store. He displayed a gun, walked directly to the watch showcase and broke the glass. The subject fled the store with 19 watches. The second subject remained on a motorcycle outside of the store. The robbery took less than two minutes. This is the third smash and grab robbery this year where subjects have worn motorcycle helmets in North and South Carolina. DIAMOND SWITCH – SUMTER, S.C.
On 7/28/16, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a male subject inquired about diamond earrings. The sales associate removed an earring and gave it to the subject. The subject held it up to his ear, examined it, and then gave it back to the sales associate. After handing the earring back to the sales associate, the subject walked away from the showcase and started asking questions about a gold bracelet. Once the sales associate provided the price of the bracelet, the subject stated it was too expensive. He then left the store. The sales associate later realized the earring the subject handed back was a CZ earring. The subject was described as an African American Male. He is 5’10†and has a thin build. He has a tattoo of a name near his left eye and a tribal tattoo on the right side of his face. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt.
