Orlando, Florida – Suspect steals $800K in jewelry from Tiffany & Co., swallows evidence during arrest.

ORLANDO, Fla. — A brazen thief got away with nearly $ 800,000 worth of luxury jewelry from the Tiffany’s store at the Mall at Millenia.

Orlando Police say the suspect, Jaythan Gilder pretended to be a representative for an Orlando Magic player, and he was ushered to a private viewing area.

That’s when police say he grabbed the jewels and took off in a car outside of the mall.

Police say he made it all the way to Washington County, where state troopers pulled him over for a traffic violation. When he was caught, police say he swallowed the jewelry. You can see some of the jewels in body scans taken shortly after his arrest.

Gilder remains in the Orange County Jail. Police say they’ve since learned the suspect is accused of a similar robbery at a Tiffany’s store in Texas in 2022.

He will eventually be extradited to Colorado, where he is wanted on 48 outstanding warrants.

GLENDALE, CA- GRAB AND RUN

Glendale, CA– On March 01, 2025, a jewelry store in Glendale, CA experienced a grab & run theft incident. Upon entry into the store the suspect requested to see a big chain along with a pendant. After being informed only one piece could be shown at a time, the suspect was shown a chain. While the chain was on the suspect’s neck and shortly after he viewed himself in the mirror, the suspect ran out with the chain. Mall Security and Glendale Police Department were notified whereupon an investigation was initiated.

Suspect(s) Description: Black male, approx. 35-39 yrs. old, 5’8”, 200pds, dreadlocks. Wearing dark colored zip up sweat top with “DEPT” on front, ripped blue jeans, white tennis shoes

Brooklyn, NY- Suspect accused of stealing $6K ring from Brooklyn jewelry store: NYPD

WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn – Police are searching for a suspect accused of stealing from a Brooklyn jewelry store on Feb. 13, according to the NYPD.

It happened at 243 Grand St. in Williamsburg around 2:15 p.m., police said. The suspect allegedly stole a ring worth $6,900, according to authorities. He then fled the store to parts unknown, police said.

WYOMISING, PA- GRAB AND RUN.

On February 23, at the Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing, PA, a jewelry store reported a theft. An employee left a tray of diamond pendants out on the center island, while she was assisting a customer. With her back turned, a male suspect, approached the kiosk and began looking around. He had noticed the tray of diamond pendants on the center island and when the employee had her attention on the other customer, the suspect leaned over and stole the tray. He left on foot in an unknown direction.

Suspect(s) Description: Spanish Male, about 5’8” with athletic build, about 200 lbs., in his mid 30s. Wearing black hoodie and black ball cap with white lettering.

Kennewick, WA- Jewelry theft suspect sought by Kennewick Police.

Kennewick, WA – A jewelry store in the 5200 block of W Clearwater Ave was the site of a felony theft on February 20, 2025, according to Kennewick Police.

Investigators said the suspect stole a ring and fled the area.

POOLER, GA- GRAB AND RUN

Pooler, GA– On February 14, 2025, at the Tanger Outlets, a grab and run theft was reported at a jewelry store. A lone male entered the location and stated he wanted to look at a cross chain. A employee assisted the male and removed the item from the showcase. Once the male gained possession of the item, he attempted to put it around his neck. The employee tried to get the item back, but the male moved away and nodded his head. The male looked at himself in the mirror and said, “I’ll get this”. Then the male stated, ” let me get my money” and proceeded to walk away towards the front door. Once the male got to the door, he ran from the location. A police report was filed.

The Jewelers Security Alliance is tracking the suspect may be the same suspect that committed a grab and run theft in North Charleston, South Carolina on February 12th.

Suspect(s) Description:  Male, Black, 5’05”, slender build, wearing glasses, blind from his right eye, eye was cloudy / white, twist-braids his hair was black hair that is graying.

GRAB AND RUN- TEMPE, AZ

Tempe, AZ– On February 04, 2025, it was reported that a grab and run incident occurred at THE Arizona Mills mall in Tempe, Arizona. A male subject entered the store where he was provided customer service by an employee. The male was looking at gold display showcases, where he asked and selected to look at a gold and diamond charm and gold chain necklaces. The male selected and stated he was going to purchase a lion black and white diamond charm. The male then selected a gold chain necklace to go with the gold charm. The male then placed the gold charm and gold chain on at the register. The male was on his cell phone, claiming to talk with his mother for money transfer for a credit card account to purchase the items. While on his cell phone, the male quickly fled the store. Mall security and the Tempe Police Department were notified and responded to this incident. No injuries were reported.

Atlanta, GA- Police seek thief who stole $240,000 item from Roswell Road jewelry store.

Atlanta, GA – Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a thief who stole jewelry valued at $240,000 from Luxor Fine Jewelry on Roswell Road in Chastain Square on Jan. 11.

Atlanta Police officers responded to 4279 Roswell Road NE at 2:35 p.m. on Jan. 11, according to an Atlanta Police Department news release. An employee of the business told them a male suspect came into the store and asked to see an item of jewelry. He snatched the $240,000 piece of jewelry from the employee and fled the location on foot.

A video of the alleged theft released by police show a man dressed in a VG track suit talking to a staff member at Luxor, then cuts to the man looking at a variety of jewelry mounted on display cards near the store exit before grabbing a display card and fleeing the store.

Columbus, Ohio- GRAB AND RUN.

Columbus, OH– On January 13, 2025, at the Polaris Fashion Mall in Columbus, Ohio, a jewelery store reported a grab and run totaling $800.00. According to Management, a female walked in asking for men’s jewelry for her boyfriend then corrected herself as he was a fiancé. The suspect started to look at silver chains. Then asked how many pieces she is allowed to try on at once. She said she didn’t mind the price; as we proceeded to the register she kept asking if there any rings in size 11 for her. The associate asked to see the chain again from the suspect, she gained possession and ran out of the store with the chain. No injuries were reported.

Indianapolis, IN- GRAB AND RUN.

Indianapolis, IN- On January 09, 2025, a lone male entered the store in the Castleton Mall and said he wanted to buy a Bridal Set and a Men’s wedding band and wanted them to match. He spent over an hour in the store shopping with the one associate. He wanted to compare the 3 rings to find what matched best. When all 3 pieces were out, he grabbed them and ran out of the store. Both Mall Security and Police were called. No injuries were reported.
