WOODBRIDGE, NJ  Virani Jewelers in the Iselin section of Woodbridge was robbed in broad daylight this past Saturday, Woodbridge Police confirmed.
The smash-and-grab robbery occurred at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, and the suspects were in and out of the store in less than a minute, said police. Four men entered the store, smashed jewelry cases and grabbed jewelry, and then ran off.
“The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. when four individuals entered the jewelry store located on Oak Tree Road,” said police. “The suspects used hammers to smash several display counters and took an undisclosed amount of jewelry. The entire robbery was over in approximately one minute.”
The four suspects, all men, sped off in a black SUV, which was driven by a fifth man. There is a video circulating on Facebook that shows the men, all wearing face coverings, run into the store and then run out.

MILFORD, CT  A man is facing a litany of charges in connection with a smash-and-grab robbery at a Connecticut Post Mall jewelry store, according to police.
Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting “shots fired” at the 1201 Boston Post Road mall on Oct. 20 at 12:32 p.m.
Officers responded and found no shots were fired, but that the glass displays at the Oxford Jewelers kiosk had been smashed and jewelry was stolen.
Three males had smashed the glass cases and stole $45,000 to $50,000 worth of jewelry, according to police.
That same evening at 9:51 p.m., the suspects returned to the mall by shattering a glass door, resulting in $1,800 worth of damage, police said. The suspects fled in another vehicle as mall security arrived.
Following an investigation, police arrested Jakyii Grant, 19, of Bridgeport, on March 25.
He was charged in the first incident with first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, second-degree criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal mischief. He was also charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal mischief.
He was held on a total of $100,00 bond and taken to Milford Superior Court. The investigation is ongoing. The owner of Oxford Jewelers has said that thieves have hit his kiosk three times in the last two years.
He said the criminals are fast, often completing their task in under 20 seconds. They smash the glass, grab valuables like gold, silver, and diamonds, then flee.

Monroe County, MI – The suspects, described by authorities as three men in their late teens to early 20s, robbed a Jewlery store in Frenchtown Twp. on Saturday and fled in a white jeep reported stolen out of Detroit, Michigan.

Westchester County, NY- Two sledgehammer-wielding thugs who helped jack $1.7 million in jewelry and watches  including 70 Rolexes  in a brazen Westchester County heist were nabbed in New Jersey on Tuesday, the feds said.
Kevin Williams, 26, Byron Wilson, 24, and two cohorts drove a stolen dark blue Jeep Grand Cherokee from Jersey to the Westchester Square shopping plaza in Hartsdale around 11 a.m. Dec. 16, according to a statement from acting US Attorney Matthew Podolsky of the Southern District of New York.
The criminals, dressed all in black and carrying hammers, stormed a jewelry store there and began smashing display cases as shocked customers and workers cowered in fear, authorities said.
The masked bandits snatched up pricey pieces that included diamonds, rings, necklaces, earrings and luxury watches  including the Rolexes worth more than $1 million all on their own, officials said.
Then, they hustled to their stolen Jeep  with their bags of illicit loot in tow  and hightailed it back to the Garden State, Podolsky said.
nvestigators tracked their cell phones afterward and found that while Wilson returned to their shared home in Irvington, NJ  a city of about 60,000 just west of Newark  Williams took a trip to the Diamond District in Midtown Manhattan.
A few hours later, the poaching pair posed with their co-conspirators for pictures in which they all held fat stacks of cash, the statement said.
Wilson also was busy researching the phrase “hartsdale news†on his phone and reading articles about the heist, including one titled, “Tarrytown Jewelers in Hartsdale victim of robbery in broad daylight,†officials said.
He Googled “tudor geneve watch,†too  apparently to try to learn more about some of the costly items the gang had stolen, the feds said.
But his and Williams’ luck ran out Tuesday when they were collared and charged with two federal counts involving conspiracy to commit robbery.
Each count brings with it a maximum of 20 years in prison.
The pair were set to be arraigned Tuesday in White Plains federal court.
“As alleged, Kevin Williams and Byron Wilson, along with their co-conspirators, carried out the violent robbery of a jewelry store in broad daylight,†Podolsky said.
“Armed with sledgehammers, the defendants smashed their way in and then plundered the store of about $1.7 million in jewelry, diamonds, and luxury watches, all while innocent customers and employees hid for their safety.
“Today’s arrests should make clear that if you commit such brazen and dangerous crimes in this District, we will find you and hold you responsible.â€Â

Charlotte, NC– Three people are wanted after pictures capture them smashing display cases at a Charlotte pawn shop, according to Charlotte Crime Stoppers.
Around 5:45 p.m. on Feb. 22, three suspects wearing hoods, masks, and sunglasses entered National Pawn at 2905 Eastway Drive. Officials say they smashed glass display cases and stole jewelry from the store. The men allegedly drove a stolen vehicle which was found abandoned not far from the store.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  Detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who used a sledgehammer to smash a Rolex case and steal multiple watches from SouthPark Mall last month.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police shared multiple surveillance photos of a man they say pulled off the heist on Dec. 27. The man is seen inside an unidentified jewelry store.
He was last seen wearing a New York Yankees baseball hat, a gray and black windbreaker and jeans. The incident happened around 8 p.m. on Dec. 27 at SouthPark Mall. Investigators say multiple watches were taken from the display case.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas  Four people have been arrested and charged in connection with a string of smash-and-grab robberies, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
The robberies occurred in November and December 2024 at several jewelry stores in northwest Harris County. Gonzalez said thousands of dollars worth of jewelry were stolen during these robberies. The suspects also allegedly caused thousands of dollars in damage.
The suspects, Dexter Mitchell, 51, his nephew, Reginald Mitchell, 22, Shonton Howard, 26, and Christian Venson, 25, are also suspected of carrying out similar crimes in other parts of Harris County and the Dallas area, according to Gonzalez.
They’re all charged with engaging in organized criminal activity while using a deadly weapon and aggravated robbery.

Greece, N.Y.  Three people face charges in connection with a jewelry store robbery at The Mall at Greece Ridge last month.
Police said eight suspects entered the mall wearing masks and gloves Jan. 6, with six of them going to Dubai Jewelry while the other two stayed by the vestibule.
The suspects reportedly jumped the store’s counter and used a baseball bat to break the display cases, stealing roughly $90,000 worth of merchandise.
A Wilmorite security officer reportedly confronted the suspects during the incident but was threatened with a baseball bat. Police said another security officer was nearly struck by a bat that one of the suspects threw.
The suspects allegedly fled the scene in a dark Chevrolet Malibu, later found unoccupied on Lang Street in Rochester. Police said detectives identified two vehicles involved in the crime.
SWAT teams from the Greece and Rochester police departments executed a “high-risk” search warrant Wednesday at an address on Remington Street in Rochester, according to Greece police, with New York State Police assisting them with searches of three other locations.
Police said they recovered “significant physical evidence” during the searches and arrested three people.
Michael Ruiz, 28, Jahrusalem Smith, 30, and Destiny Allen, 41, all of Rochester, were each charged with robbery, grand larceny and criminal mischief.

LINCOLNWOOD, Ill.  Three masked suspects smashed the front window of a north suburban jewelry store while customers were inside Saturday and stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry.
According to police, officers arrived at Baladna Jewelry in Lincolnwood, located in the 4300 block of Touhy Avenue, around 4:45 p.m. for a smash-and-grab burglary.
Police say, according to initial reports, the suspects arrived in a black pickup truck, which was observed parking in front of the store. The suspects then proceeded to smash the front windows and force their way inside, where they broke open display cases and filled bags with various pieces of jewelry.
According to police, several customers were inside the store at the time of the robbery, but no physical threats or injuries were reported. After committing the theft, the suspects fled westbound on Touhy Ave. in the black pickup truck.
Lincolnwood detectives were gathering information and evidence, including surveillance footage from nearby businesses and witness statements, after the incident.
The suspects were described as male and wearing all-black clothing, ski masks and gloves. No further details about the suspects’ identities or the stolen items were immediately available.
